Gently Restore Your Brothers and Sisters

“Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:1-2 (NIV)
There are many sins that we can fall into. Many habits, addictions, and sins are hard to break. That is why we need each other. There is so much talk about accountability. But we need something more than a watchdog. We need someone who knows our struggles and loves us, even when we fall. They are there for you. There is no judgment for they understand about “slips” and are there to lift you up when you fall. Their goal is to restore, not scold or shun. God has called us to carry each other’s burden.  He has asked that we “restore” someone gently, not reprimand or ostracize them. Today, let’s follow Christ and help carry someone else’s burden.

Father, forgive me for judging others. Instead, help me gently restore those in need and bear their burdens. Help me to remember my own sins and how You have forgiven me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

 AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I help others with their burdens
As you sit here, picture a friend coming to you with their problem. Sense that God is asking you to love this person and help restore them back to Christ. Feel compassion move deep in your heart. In this moment ask God to fill you with His grace and mercy so you can give it away to others.
